Recently retired English and Journalism teacher Cheryl Johnston writes because she “can’t not write.”
Her life’s mission is “through writing and teaching, to help others discover the joy, peace, and fulfillment found in a life with Christ.”
With her husband RJ she enjoys family gatherings, enduring friendships, and golfing in Central Florida. Presently, she serves as Christian Education Director at Plant City Church of God and leads monthly meetings of the Brandon Christian Writers. She also holds memberships in Believers Trust (believerstrust.org), Word Weavers International (Tampa) and National League of American Pen Women.
The unedited version of her “Wings of Peace” story in Heaven Touching Earth (Bethany House Publishing, Sept. 2014) was selected for inclusion as “Wings of Love” in the Best Angel Stories 2014 (Guidepost Books). “Early Came the Healer” is included in Woman of the Secret Place (Ambassador International, 2012). Hundreds of published articles in Focus Magazine (focusplantcity.com; focusbrandon.com) include event coverage, business promotions, human interest profiles and personal experiences.
Inspirational real life stories are her favorites to write, and especially those that point others to God.
Among her favorite “writing” Scripture verses are these:
Habakkuk 2:2 (NIV) instructs –“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets, so that a herald[a] may run with it.”
Psalm 45:1 (NIV) –“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.”
II Corinthians 1:13 (NIV) –“For we do not write you anything you cannot read or understand.”
